SUMMARY:Siliciclastic Depositional Regimes and Facies architectures in response to eustatic sea level changes and Sediment influx.
DESCRIPTION:Seismic\, Well-logs and Outcrop Data\nCourse & Workshop\nJanuary 22-26\, 2023 \nInstructor : Dr. Tarek Bayoumi \n  \nWHO SHOULD ATTEND\nThe course is designed for all geologists\, geophysicists\, petrophysicists and reservoir engineers. \nCourse Content\nThe course throws light on the concept of sequence stratigraphy and the configuration of different siliciclastic depositional regimes in response to the seal level changes\, sediments influxes and wave and tidal energy.Coastal\, shallow marine\, and deep marine depositional settings are discussed and illustrated with examples of modern depositional regimes (photos)\, seismic\, well-logs\, and outcrop data (photos). \nLearning Outcomes: \n\nLearn to recognize in well logs the various systems tracts\, sequence boundaries\, transgressive surfaces\, maximum flooding surfaces\, and maximum regressive surfaces.\nLearn to interpret the most likely depositional regimes from well logs and prediction of laterally preserved sedimentary facies.\nLearn to identify on seismic the different types of systems tracts\, sequence boundaries\, maximum flooding surfaces\, and stratal termination patterns.\nLearn to recognize in outcrops (photos) the significant surfaces: SB (sequence boundaries)\, MFS (maximum flooding surfaces)\, and MRS (maximum regressive surfaces)\n\nFundamental Concepts \n\nControls on relative sea level change\, accommodation space and clastic input.\nSequence boundaries: definitions and types. Maximum flooding surfaces\, transgressive surfaces\, and other surfaces of sequence stratigraphic significance.\nSeismic stratal termination patterns and seismic facies.\nProgradation\, aggradation and retrogradation\, shoreline trajectories.\n\nDepositional Environments and Systems Tracts \n\nThe falling stage systems tract related depositional regimes:\nForced regression\, submarine canyons\, mass flow complexes\, shelf margin deltas\, submarine fans and channel levee complexes.\nThe lowstand systems tract related depositional regimes:\nIncised valleys and incised valley fills\, fluvial depositional systems\, lowstand wedges and shelf margin deltas.\nThe transgressive systems tract related depositional regimes:\nBack barrier complex regime\, estuarine depositional systems\, bayhead deltas\, and transgressive open coastal shorelines.\nThe highstand systems tract related depositional regimes:\nStrand plains and beach ridges\, inner shelf deltas\, and normal regressive open coastal shorelines.\nMain delta types in response to dominant processes.\n\nLOCATION\nFirst day will be held at the Holiday Inn Maadi Hotel\, in Cairo. The participants will fly the next day to Hurghada. The course will be continued in Hurghada. \n  \nCOURSE FEES\nInclusive of refreshment and lunch at the Holiday Inn Maadi Hotel. Air Ticket Cairo/Hurghada return and accommodation in Hurghada. \n  \nINSTRUCTOR PROFILE\nDr. Tarek Bayoumi\, About 35 years of experience in the field of oil and gas upstream activities with a proven track record of pronounced discoveries and achievements with many reputable oil & gas companies such as Shell\, Sipetrol\, Hellenic\, OMV\, Kuwait Energy and Dana Petroleum. \nAccountable for delivery of all exploration & development related business (regional geological studies\, exploration strategies\, prospects generation\, ranking and risk assessments\, budget\, drilling campaigns\, field development plans\, etc…). \nCapability to integrate all geological concepts to identify possible opportunities\, backed up by appropriate surface and subsurface analogues.
