INSTRUCTOR PROFILE

Saad Ibrahim, P.Eng., an independent consultant and president of Petro-Management Group Ltd., established in Calgary (1994). Graduated from the University of Alexandria (Egypt) with B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering in 1973. He also completed a post-graduate program with the University of Calgary, Canada, in Chemical and Petroleum Engineering in 1983.

Mr. Ibrahim has 30 years of reservoir/production engineering experience in Western Canada (with Amoco, BP and Husky) and internationally in Yemen (with Nexen Petroleum International Ltd.), Algeria, Libya, Tanzania, Iraq, Egypt, Turkey, Venezuela, Argentina, Ecuador, Peru, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. The focus of Mr. Ibrahim’s experience lies in the area of well-test planning/analysis and reservoir management.

Mr. Ibrahim has participated in numereous interesting projects such as:
I. Field development and implementation of the Masila Block in Yemen for Canadian Occidental; currently producing over 200,000 B/d

II. The acquisition of Yuzhneftegas by Hurricane Hydrocarbons (currently PetroKazakhstan) and the development of several field in the Turgi basin

III. Design of a gas storage project in the Hussar area for Husky Energy in Canada with a target production rate of 200 MMscf/d

IV. Designed numerous EOR projects including waterflooding and miscible flood techniques.

V. Applications of horizontal well technology in naturally fractured reservoirs, water injection and oil field development projects in Western Canada and internationally

VI. Well test planning/analysis for numerous projects around the world

VII. Conduct numerous training programs in North America and Internationally

Mr. Ibrahim has lectured for the Petroleum Society (CIM), Calgary International Petroleum Conference, and for several exploration and production companies. Mr. Ibrahim published a technical paper titled “Well Test Data Goes Electronic”, in the JCPT April 1999. Mr. Ibrahim was on the Reserve Panel of the 4th International Conference in Calgary on Horizontal Well Technology. Mr. Ibrahim is a member with the APEGGA and SPE.
