BASIC SEISMIC APPLICATION FOR GEOLOGISTS, GEOPHYSICISTS & RESERVOIR ENGINEERS

COURSE AND WORKSHOP

February 26 - March 1, 2012

Instructor : H. HELMY, Ph.D.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND

The material of this course should be of interest to exploration and development geologists, reservoir geologists, reservoir engineers, petrophysicists, log analysts, geophysicists and other disciplines interested in oil exploration and development.

COURSE OVERVIEW

The overall objective is to introduce Exploration Geologists ,Geophysicists and reservoir engineers to the key concepts and principles that form the technical basis for the different geophysical techniques and geologic structures ,and value added seismic applications in exploration, field appraisal, and reservoir management. Learning these objectives are at basic awareness and knowledge levels. Emphasis is on the synergistic team work , seismic rock properties ,Explain the basic principles of seismic wave propagation ,principles of the seismic system ,Understand principles of marine and land seismic acquisition ,Identify and understand the basic steps required to process and interpret seismic data ,and Understand the principles and role of special seismic techniques such as inversion ,attributes ,and AVO. The course design allows ready adaptation to shorter or longer versions and direct linkage to advanced treatment of specific topics.

INSTRUCTOR PROFILE

Dr. H. Helmy has 30 years of experience worked for Gupco, Amoco in Houston in seismic interpretation and technology. He has diversified experience in Seismic data acquisition and processing shallow, deep marine and land surveys. He spent over 20 years in seismic interpretation, well proposals and field development studies in land and marine areas in Egypt and others. He spent the last seven years in seismic reservoir characterization using AVO and seismic attributes and pressure detection using seismic.
